Rabbit Landing Pin

Linda Kindler Priest's extraordinary work in the traditional technique of repoussé is breathtaking on close examination: she creates difficult compositions that challenge her skills and artistry, and, like this two-part pin/sculpture, pulls the rabbit out of the hat.

Here, an assymetrical 14K gold 'Rabbit Landing' is a low-relief sculpture created from flat gold sheet through repoussé: pushing and chasing the precious metal out from behind. The movement created by the rabbit's form and the assymetrical outline is complemented by the base pin, in which shards of grass or grain reach up from the pink drusy quartz and mixed metal pedestal. Priest's works require a great deal of observation. They appear to be very quiet compositions, yet there is so much going on upon close viewing, it is remarkable the artist can pull off such quiet theatrics.

Rabbit pin measures 1.25" x 1.75", the pink cobalto-calcite drusy quartz, oxidized sterling and 14K lower pin measures .75" x 1.75" and the picture frame to mount them when not being worn measures 4.25" x 6.25".
