Ernest Borel, the Swiss watch company founded in 1859, is best known for these 'mystery dial' cocktail watches first marketed in the 1950's. Here, a large version circa 1970's in goldtone on steel, the case measuring 36mm square in a cushion-form, hooded lug case. The automatic movement by Synchron powers the center dial to turn in optical design as the red arrow rotates to indicate the seconds and the rectangular luminous baton hands tell the hour and minute from behind the revolving dial.
