1940’s Mauboussin Brooch

A wonderful 1940s brooch by Mauboussin in rose and yellow gold with a curving, lyrical design incorporating cabochon rubies and accented with sparkling diamonds. Marked ‘TRABERT & HOEFFER/ MAUBOUSSIN” on top of the double pin clasp. On the back of the pin: ‘Reflection’ and ‘designed & executed for GERTRUDE ZAMOISKI,’ a well-traveled lady who was born in 1898 in Maryland and died in 1986 in that same state. A lovely and sumptuous Retro form from the legendary maison of Mauboussin. Meaures 2-1/4″ from top to bottom.

This brooch is one of the Reflection series, an innovative design concept introduced by Trabert & Hoeffer, Inc.-Mauboussin in the 1930s. Reflection: Your Personality in a Jewel, offered women a personalized line of jewellery at a reasonable price. The Reflection line remained popular until the 1950s.
