Gold-Fill Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watch, Circa 1907
Yellow gold-filled Hamilton Grade 992 Railway Special railroad open face pocket watch, circa 1907, with Montgomery dial. The 52mm gold-filled case with beaded edge unscrews at back to reveal a 21 jewel 992 grade movement. The white enamel dial is double recessed, with painted bold Arabic numerals, outer minute ring with 60-minute Montgomery divisions and 5-minute red Arabic markers, subsidiary seconds sunken register and blued steel railway spade hands. The movement 21 jewels, warrantied by Aaron Faber for 12 months. The distinctive dial was designed by H.S. Montgomery and eventually patented on April 20, 1920. This dial is distinctive in that every minute marker has an Arabic numeral written in full.
