Marci Zelmanoff: Repousse Brooch
From a well-known collector’s estate, this Marci Zelmanoff 1970’s sterling, copper and brass elongated brooch designed to wear at the center of the chest measures 2″ x 6″. Zelmanoff was a jewelry artist well ahead of her time. Her feminist, bold, sometimes feverish constructions appealed to women wearers, but were generally ignored by the burgeoning art jewelry institutions and media. Today her work is recognized for its originality and singular vision.
