Mokume Gane Cuff Bracelet
Juha Koskela mokume gane patterns range from simple to complex but they are always remarkable in their geometry and coloration. Here, his large layered wrap cuff bracelet, mokume gane over stelring silver, the pattenred metal a lyric movement of curving lines and lighter and darker shadings. The cuff measures 1-3/4″ at the widest and fits larger wrists.
Mokume gane is an alloy of copper and silver– and brass in this example — originally used in Japanese swordmaking, the word meaning ‘wood grain’ to describe the traditional pattern effect of this metal technique.
