Steel Universal Polerouter Automatic Date
Universal Geneve first introduced the Polerouter Date in 1959. This handsome stainless steel automatic version circa 1961, has a 34mm case, with a radiant quadrant silver dial. The dial features bold black hour indexes, luminous steel sword hands, date window at 3 o’clock, and center second sweep hand. Water resistant screwdown back. The automatic movement warrantied for 12 months by Aaron Faber. The Polerouter was launched by Universal in 1954 to celebrate the inauguration of the ‘Polar Route’ by Scandinavian Airlines, whose pilots wore the watch on their special flights. It was manufactured in steel, 14K and 18K gold.
