Trabert Hoeffer Mauboussin Pin
Circa 1940’s ‘Reflection’ pin in 14K gold, sapphire and diamonds, signed Trabert Hoeffer Mauboussin, the famed American jeweler from 1929 through 1953. The very Retro-style scalloped brooch, 1-7/8″ x 1-1/2″, is set with square step-cut Ceylon sapphires and a diamond pavé edge. Double pin stem.
After opening in New York in 1929 with the immediately ensuing financial crisis, the prominent French jeweller Mauboussin merged with the American-based company Trabert & Hoeffer. Soon after, Trabert & Hoeffer, Inc.-Mauboussin introduced an innovative design concept in the 1930s, Reflection: Your Personality in a Jewel, which offered women a personalised line of jewellery at a reasonable price. This brooch, a 14K gold, sapphire and diamond brooch, shows the essence of the Reflection concept. This brooch was most likely a collaboration of a pre-made design and the client’s personal taste and preference. The Reflection line remained popular until the 1950s.
