Universal Geneve Polerouter Automatic, 1950’s

Universal Geneve first introduced the Polerouter in 1954, one of the earliest designs from then-unknown Gerald Genta. This handsome stainless steel model has a 35mm case, screwed down back with UG logo, The steel and black dial features bold engraved hour indexes, luminous steel sword hands, and center second sweep hand. The automatic movement is warrantied for 12 months by Aaron Faber. The Polerouter was launched by Universal in 1954 to celebrate the inauguration of the ‘Polar Route’ by Scandinavian Airlines, whose pilots wore the watch on their special flights. It was manufactured in steel, 14K and 18K gold.
