Tod Pardon's 2010 brooch is one of a series of broadly formed figures, here with two strong geometric elements -- one in rosewood and other sterling silver -- floating above a coloful inlay crescent suggesting legs of the anthropomorphic figure, as the horizontal bone and wood striping at top suggests a head. The pin measures 2-3/4" at the widest x 5-3/4" high, accompanied by a wood stand to display as sculpture when not being worn.

Tod Pardon (1952 - ) creates jewelry that reflects the myriad intellectual and visual influences for the artist of the twenty-first century. His anthropomorphic brooches and sculpture are strongly influenced by African sculpture, imagery and color; by contemporary pop culture, including video, music and computer graphics; by the influences of Modernism and Surrealism; and directly or indirectly by the artistic career of his father, Earl Pardon.
