Tod Pardon's 2009 brooch/sculptures reprise his themes of anthropomorphic forms in streamlined, sometimes graceful, verticals, as here in his untitled work, 2-3/4" at the widest x 6" high. The curvilinear sterling silver vertical, with a 14K goldnailhead base, rises to two mixed media inlay wings, ebony riveted in gold on the right, an artificial eye set in painted resin on the left.

Tod Pardon (1952 - ) creates jewelry that reflects the myriad intellectual and visual influences for the artist of the twenty-first century. His anthropomorphic brooches and sculpture are strongly influenced by African sculpture, imagery and color; by contemporary pop culture, including video, music and computer graphics; by the influences of Modernism and Surrealism; and directly or indirectly by the artistic career of his father, Earl Pardon.
