Earl Pardon (1931-1991) is considered one of the foundational artists of the Modernist jewelry movement. Trained as painter and sculptor, he found his niche in precious metal. The brooch here, a miniature sculpture if you will, is a composition in sterling silver, gold, and copper, set with ruby, amethyst and tourmaline. The slightly curved brooch with pierced squares, measures 1-1/2" x 1-5/8".
