Earl Pardon (1931-1991) is considered one of the foundational artists of the Modernist jewelry movement. Trained as painter and sculptor, he found his niche in precious metal. The brooch here, a miniature wall sculpture if you will, is a composition in sterling silver and 14k gold, the textured field combining fused metals, and reticulated areas, set in a backing of sterling. The brooch measures 1-7/8" x 1-1/4".
