The most desirable tanzanite blue color is magnificently cut by Tom Munsteiner, 5.63 carats, in his signature 'Mantis' zig-zag underfacets letting the gem reflect light and color. Set in platinum with a 0.12 carat trilliant diamond, the ring measures 5/8" x 1/2" and is size 7. Tanzanite is only found in Simanjiro District of Manyara Region in Tanzania, in a very small mining area (approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) long and 2 km (1.2 mi) wide) near the Mererani Hills and is sometimes referred to as Africa's real blue diamond.
