Universal Geneve first introduced the Polerouter Date in 1959. This handsome stainless steel automatic version circa 1961, has a 35mm case, with a striking two-tone silver and black original dial. The engraved hour chapter ring features steel hour markers, date window at 3 o'clock, and center second sweep hand. Water resistant screwdown back. The automatic movement is warrantied for 12 months by Aaron Faber. The Polerouter was launched by Universal in 1954 to celebrate the inauguration of the 'Polar Route' by Scandinavian Airlines, whose pilots wore the watch on their special flights. It was manufactured in steel, 14K and 18K gold.
