Lucie Heskett-Brem, the Gold Weaver, was born in Lucerne, Switzerland, and completed her apprenticeship as a goldsmith there in 1992.
Lucie’s specialty—handmade chains fabricated in her studio from pure gold which she alloys and draws into thin wires — was inspired by a lifelong fascination with the symbolism of chains, a powerful symbol in every human culture, signifying the unbreakable bond of love and marriage as well as the display of status and power.
Lucie Heskett is deeply versed in the patterns and techniques used by jewelers from the most ancient times. Using her own high carat alloys, she makes her intricate chains entirely by hand. From the bar, through the milling and drawing, the making of each link and the joining of them into an exquisitely finished whole, each chain is a unique work of art. Lucie notes that she loves the meditative repetition of each individual link and the flexible connection of each to all. She exhibits in galleries and is represented in Zurich, London and New York.
