Bernd Munsteiner Wall Carving
Bernd Munsteiner’s gem carvings are recognized the world over as an art form in gem materials. His Dom Pedro aquamarine scultpure in the Hall of Gems in the Smithsonian is one of that institutions most viewed rarities, along with the Hope Diamond.
His sculptures include wall carvings, as seen here in a rare 1985 carved agate, 3-1/2″ x 3″, mounted in acrylic and framed in white wood. The layered agate ranges in shades form bright white to amber brown, a kind of monumental landscape set against a burning white round form in the background.
