Carrie Adell: Boulder Opal Shakudo Drop Earrings
Studio jewelry artist Carrie Adell (1932-2001) fabricated these opal drop earrings, signed and dated 1994, setting the boulder opals in 22K and 18K golds, the drops in mixed metals — silver, gold and shakudo — that curve gently towards the face. Well known for her mixed metal shakudo ‘touchstones’, her work is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Earrings weigh 21 grams.
