Elgin Railroad Pocket Watch, Circa 1925
Yellow gold-filled Elgin Railroad open face pocket watch, B.W.Raymond model, circa 1925, the movement in crisp beautiful condition, is a grade 478 21 jewel pocket watch made for railroad conductors and engineers. The 51mm case has a screw-down back and polished back, with square bullet-patterned bezels. The white enamel dial features bold black Arabic numerals, outer minute black minute numbers with 5-minute red numerals, sunken sub-seconds, blued steel “Heavy Spade” hands. Discoloration/patina spots on back. The movement is 16 size, three-quarter plate nickel, 21jewels, warrantied by Aaron Faber for 12 months. These visually stunning railroad watches are as well made as they are handsome. This model, named after the founder, Benjamin Wright Raymond, was reserved for high-end movements.
