Universal Polerouter

Universal Geneve first introduced the Polerouter Date in 1959. This handsome two tone stainless steel and gold automatic version circa mid 1960’s, has a 35mm case, with gold clad bezel, case band and extended lugs. The patinated champagne dial features bold engraved hour indexes, luminous steel sword hands, date window at 3 o’clock, and center second sweep hand. Water resistant screwdown back. The automatic movement is warrantied for 12 months by Aaron Faber. The Polerouter was launched by Universal in 1954 to celebrate the inauguration of the ‘Polar Route’ by Scandinavian Airlines, whose pilots wore the watch on their special flights. It was manufactured in steel, 14K and 18K gold.
